A Midsize Sedan That Works Harder to Protect What You Love Most

Here in Schaumburg, one of our first priorities is family. When you have people you care about deeply, you don't want anything bad to happen to them -- like a car accident. Unfortunately, they're called "accidents" because they don't happen on purpose, and you may not see them coming. That's why you only shop for the safest vehicles you can find.

We're proud to announce that the 2017 Ford Fusion was awarded this month with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest honors, a Top Safety Pick+.

To earn this award, the 2017 Fusion had to survive the dreaded small-overlap collision test, which pits a narrow section of front of the car against the corner of a barrier at 40mph. This is an accurate simulation of what happens in a head-on collision when an oncoming car crosses the yellow center line, and it bypasses the safety systems of many vehicles.

Not on the new Fusion, though. It was rated as "good" (the IIHS's highest crash-test rating) in small-overlap, and each of five crash tests given.

Its new frontal collision prevention system was also tested as "superior" (the IIHS's highest crash-prevention rating), and could automatically brake in order to avoid a collision up to 25mph.
